Kumho HT, a company specializing in automotive electronics, announced on May 15 that it recorded a consolidated operating profit of 2.6 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year, maintaining its profitability. During the same period, sales amounted to 102.9 billion KRW, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year, while net profit reached 1.6 billion KRW.
Although both sales and profits declined in the first quarter of this year due to a decrease in product supply, performance is expected to gradually improve from the second quarter onward. Not only is the revenue growth of its Indian subsidiary, established last year, expected to accelerate, but Kumho HT also plans to expand its supply of BMA (Battery Module Assembly) for new vehicle models. In addition, three types of interior mood lights, which were recently awarded contracts, are expected to be reflected in sales in the second half of the year.
A Kumho HT official stated, "We will expand product supply to global automakers using our Chennai plant in India as a base, seeking growth momentum in overseas markets. In particular, we plan to maximize performance by establishing a localized production and supply system targeting the rapidly growing Indian automobile market, which is now the third largest in the world."
He added, "We will actively expand our interior mood lighting business, which we are promoting as a new growth engine. As autonomous driving technology advances, interior design is becoming an important factor in vehicle selection, and the related market is expected to grow rapidly. We intend to lead the market with a variety of new products."
The domestic interior mood lighting market is currently estimated at about 1 trillion KRW and is expected to continue growing. Demand for emotional lighting is increasing due to the advancement of autonomous driving technology and the spread of car camping and camping culture. While the growth potential of exterior automotive lighting is limited by legal regulations, the interior lighting market is expected to grow steadily as there are no special regulations.
