Paikdabang by Baek Jongwon Also Raises Prices... Americano Goes from 1,500 to 1,700 Won

Price Increase for 28 Products Including Coffee
Iced Americano Price Remains Unchanged

Paikdabang, a low-cost coffee brand operated by Theborn Korea, will raise prices on 28 products, including coffee.


According to industry sources on May 14, Paikdabang will increase prices by about 100 to 300 won on 21 beverage items, including Americano, and 7 dessert and MD products, such as Espresso Soft, starting May 22.

For the flagship menu item, Americano (HOT), the price will rise by 200 won from 1,500 won to 1,700 won. The delivery price will also increase from 1,800 won to 2,000 won. The price of the big-size Iced Americano will rise by 10%, from 3,000 won to 3,300 won. However, the price of Iced Americano, currently sold at 2,000 won, will remain unchanged.


The price for an extra espresso shot will increase from 500 won to 600 won. The increased extra shot price will not be applied to the popular Iced Americano menu item. For the 7 dessert and MD menu items, the price increase will be at the same level, but the delivery price will rise by 400 to 500 won, which is a higher increase than for beverage products.


Baek Jongwon, CEO of Theborn Korea, has already faced pressure to raise prices due to factors such as the cost of coffee beans. At a press conference on May 12, Baek stated that he was considering franchise owners' requests for a price increase. Competing low-cost coffee brands, MegaMGC Coffee and Compose Coffee, have also implemented price hikes.


A Paikdabang representative explained, "Despite the rise in international coffee bean prices, we have endured some of the increase for our customers, but we have decided to adjust prices due to ongoing cost pressures. We determined the adjustment level after multiple discussions with franchise owners, and the price of Iced Americano, our highest-selling product, will remain unchanged."


Meanwhile, Paikdabang is one of the main brands within Theborn Korea, accounting for 40% of the company's sales.
