Cherry Blossom Ending? Now It's Roses... Yeongdeungpo District to Hold Rose Village Festival

Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it will hold the 'Rose Village Festival' in the Dorim Retention Basin area on May 17.

Every May, the rose vines in the Dorim Retention Basin, where the festival is held, bloom in abundance and create a spectacular scene as they wrap around the area. In particular, roses in a variety of colors, including pink, red, and yellow, captivate the eyes of visitors.

The festival, which begins at 10 a.m., is planned and led directly by residents, and features a wide range of programs. The highlight of the festival is the 'Neighborhood Singing Contest' hosted by comedian Oh Jungtae, where participants can showcase the singing skills they have honed over time.

People of all ages, from children to seniors, regardless of gender, participate in the event, providing a rich and diverse spectacle. The atmosphere will be further enlivened by a performance from a trot singer.

At the entrance to the event venue, a rose-themed photo zone will be set up so visitors can take memorable photos. A flea market will also be operated to revitalize the local economy, offering a variety of items such as clothing, desserts, accessories, and other charming goods and foods. In the 'Calligraphy Class,' there will also be a 'Family Motto Writing' activity.

To ensure the safe operation of the festival, all aspects of the event will be thoroughly inspected, including the stage and other facilities, safety equipment, and cleanliness and hygiene conditions. In addition, personnel from relevant organizations such as the police and fire departments will be stationed throughout the venue to prevent accidents, maintain order, and actively support the convenience of visitors, establishing a comprehensive response system.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, said, "The Rose Village Festival is a meaningful event that residents have planned and organized by cultivating the roses themselves," and added, "We will do our best to make this a sustainable festival that prioritizes the happiness and safety of residents and is a place everyone will want to visit again."
