Jungnang District Implements "2025 Comprehensive Summer Measures" for a Safe and Healthy Summer

Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) will implement the "2025 Comprehensive Summer Measures" to proactively respond to climate-related disasters during the summer and to prevent various safety accidents.

The measures will be in effect for five months, from May 15 to October 15, and include a total of 28 detailed plans across four areas: heatwaves, flood control, safety, and public health. The district aims to respond swiftly and systematically in the event of a disaster.

In the area of heatwave response, dedicated teams will be organized and operated according to the crisis alert level. During normal periods, a "Heatwave Task Force Team" will be in place; when a heatwave advisory is issued, a "Heatwave Comprehensive Support Situation Room" will be activated; and in the event of large-scale damage, a "Heatwave Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters" will be established to protect residents' safety.

The number of heatwave shade canopies will be increased by 10 compared to last year, bringing the total to 181 locations. At the outdoor heatwave shelter "Jungnang Ongdalsaem," bottled water will be provided free of charge to help prevent heat-related illnesses.

Protection measures for vulnerable groups will also be strengthened. In addition to two street counselors for the homeless, two more personnel will be assigned through the companion job program to expand patrols. Extended shelters and safety shelters will begin operating earlier, starting from the issuance of a heatwave preliminary advisory.

There will be a total of 129 heatwave shelters, 16 extended shelters, and 10 safety accommodations?three more than last year?to improve accessibility. For 160 daycare centers in the district, the period for air conditioning cost support will be extended from the previous July-August to June-August, further strengthening protection for infants and young children.

In addition, non-face-to-face health management services and real-time safety monitoring using Internet of Things (IoT) devices will be implemented in parallel.

For flood control, a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for storm and flood disasters will be established and operated under a six-stage emergency work system according to weather advisories. Since February, seven rainwater pumping stations and twelve water gates have been inspected in advance, and on-site inspections of 202 flood-prone facilities and areas have been completed.

In the event of flooding, temporary housing and emergency relief supplies will be provided to stabilize the lives of affected residents. The district will also operate water-spraying vehicles and set up temporary transfer stations as part of its summer cleaning measures to maintain cleanliness.

In the area of safety, 48 major facilities will be inspected in advance to prevent serious accidents affecting citizens. The district will also conduct inspections of disaster-prone facilities such as multi-use facilities, construction sites, and gas supply facilities to proactively eliminate accident risks.

In the area of public health, emergency quarantine operations will be conducted to prevent infectious diseases, and devices such as insect-attracting traps and automatic sprayers will be used to prevent the spread of mosquitoes and pests.

Additionally, the district will strengthen pre-inspections, hygiene education, and publicity for group meal facilities such as schools, daycare centers, and kindergartens to thoroughly prevent food poisoning.

Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "We prioritize the health and safety of Jungnang residents above all else, and we will do our utmost to implement comprehensive summer measures so that all residents can enjoy a cool and safe summer."
