"Yoon must apologize for the medical crisis"
Ahn Cheolsoo, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, criticized former President Yoon Sukyeol, stating that he "must apologize for the worst medical crisis."
On May 14, through his Facebook page, Ahn said, "The medical vacuum is deepening due to the worst medical crisis triggered by former President Yoon," and emphasized, "He must offer a sincere apology to the public for this catastrophe that occurred under the name of medical reform."
He continued, "This is an issue directly related to the lives of the people and is even more serious than martial law that threatened the constitutional order," and added, "After apologizing, former President Yoon must completely refrain from making any political statements and must fully withdraw from politics."
He also said, "He is not helping our party's candidate, who is working hard right now, at all," and added, "Shouldn't we prevent the Lee Jaemyung administration? Please, at the very least, have a minimum sense of conscience toward the people."
He then appealed to Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, saying, "Breaking away from the mismanagement and martial law of former President Yoon over the past three years is an essential condition for winning the election," and added, "I am speaking from the public’s perspective, so please make a decisive choice."

Ahn further emphasized, "Above all, the most urgent task is to restore the collapsed medical system," and said, "It is necessary to closely examine the damage on the ground and conduct a comprehensive assessment of medical school education conditions and hospital workforce management. Based on this, we must accurately identify the current state and problems of the medical system as experienced by the public."
He also stated, "There must be a pledge to establish a 'Medical Reform Council' directly under the president," and explained, "This should be a social grand compromise body in which the government, the medical community, the political sector, and representatives of medical students all participate equally, and together, we should design a mid- to long-term roadmap covering plans from next year up to ten years ahead."
He added, "Through this council, we must make annual fine adjustments in response to social changes and technological advancements," and emphasized, "This should not just be about simple institutional changes and government investment but must serve as the starting point for restoring trust and achieving true structural reform."
Finally, he said, "We must also expand essential medical services, strengthen regional healthcare, and foster both doctors and scientists. To this end, we need to revise the necessary laws, adjust medical service fees to realistic levels, and allocate a national investment budget," and added, "The fundamental reason for the state's existence is to protect the lives and safety of its people. As always, I will do my utmost to uphold this basic principle."
