Four Selected for Speed Events, One for World Games
Proving Their Status as Top National Athletes
The Andong City Hall Roller Sports Team in Gyeongbuk has once again proven its status as one of the nation’s top teams by producing five national team members for the 2025 season.
At the "2025 Speed National Team Selection Trials," held in Jecheon, Chungbuk, from May 8 to 11, four athletes from Andong City Hall?Lee Giwon, Park Minjeong, Lee Sangcheol, and Yang Doi?earned spots on the national team.
In addition, athlete Bae Juncheol was selected as a national team member for the "2025 Chengdu World Games" after receiving an invitation from the World Roller Federation based on his outstanding performance in the 2024 season, bringing the total number of national team members produced to five.
By event, Lee Giwon took first place in the men's 500m+D, earning selection as a sprint representative, while Park Minjeong claimed first place in the women's 1000m, also securing a spot as a sprint national team member.
In the long-distance category, Lee Sangcheol and Yang Doi each finished second overall in the men's and women's P5000m events, respectively, and were included on the national team roster.
The selected athletes are scheduled to compete at the 20th Asian Championships, to be held in Jecheon in July, and at the 2025 World Championships, which will take place in Beidaihe, China, in September.
Bae Juncheol, having received an invitation from the World Federation, is set to participate in the "2025 World Games" in Chengdu, China, this August. The World Games is a comprehensive sporting event featuring participation from over 100 countries, and only the top athletes in each discipline compete on this world-class stage.
An official from Andong City stated, "The selection of so many national team members is the result of long-standing training and effort by the Andong City Hall Roller Sports Team," and added, "We will spare no administrative and financial support to help them achieve excellent results on the international stage."
