Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, once again appealed for support in Yeongnam, a region considered a challenging area for his party.
On May 14, at Sangnam Fountain Square in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam, Lee held a focused campaign rally and delivered these remarks.

He said, "Changwon is the place that ended the military regime through resistance known as the Buma Uprising," and added, "Even now, I am confident that we will decisively suppress the ongoing rebellion."
He emphasized, "National crises have always been created by corrupt and greedy vested interests, but it has always been the people, the powerless citizens, who have overcome those crises," and continued, "You, the great people, will build a new nation, a nation of hope."
He also stated, "It is not Lee Jae Myung who will restore the country to normal, but the people who use Lee Jae Myung as a tool."
He said, "After losing the election three years ago, I reflected deeply, worked hard to make up for my shortcomings, and prepared thoroughly before running again," and added, "In this election, which will determine the fate of the Republic of Korea, choose someone who is well-prepared, loyal to the people, and a competent servant and tool."

He continued, "I am confident that I am ready to be chosen for that role," and said, "I want to prove just how much change a single leader, a person in charge, can bring."
He went on to say, "If you entrust me with the administration of Korea, even for a short time, I will create a completely different Korea, a truly new nation," and declared, "I will build the real Korea."
He once again emphasized, "We must never lose to the candidate of the rebellion forces. We must win, no matter what."
