Forty Executives and Employees Pay Tribute to the Spirits of May

More than 40 executives and employees of Gwangju Transportation Corporation visited the National 5.18 Democratic Cemetery on the 14th to pay their respects ahead of the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement. Photo by Gwangju Transportation Corporation

On May 14, the labor and management of Gwangju Transportation Corporation (President Cho Ikmun) visited the National 5.18 Democratic Cemetery to pay their respects ahead of the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, with more than 40 executives and employees participating.

Guided by officials from the 5.18 Democratic Cemetery, the attendees offered flowers and incense at the memorial square. Afterwards, they visited the graves of the victims, honoring the spirits of May and commemorating their noble sacrifices.

Notably, this event included MZ generation employees who were born after the May 18 Democratization Movement, fostering intergenerational understanding of history and reflecting on the Gwangju spirit of communication and unity.

President Cho Ikmun stated, "It was a meaningful moment where different generations came together to honor the spirit of May," and added, "I ask for the continued interest of citizens so that the values of democracy, human rights, and peace?the essence of the Gwangju spirit?can be carried on."
