Representative professional organizations from various sectors in the Gwangju area, including industry, welfare, and housing, have officially declared their support for Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung.

According to the Democratic Party Gwangju Election Committee on May 14, at the Gwangju Election Committee liaison office the previous day, the following groups announced their support for candidate Lee Jae Myung: the Gwangju Representative Industry Council, approximately 140 childcare workers from the Seo District, and the Korea Housing Managers Association Gwangju Chapter.

Through its statement of support, the Gwangju Representative Industry Council said, "Candidate Lee Jae Myung is a leader who combines growth and distribution, connecting industry and jobs," and added, "He is the only candidate who most clearly demonstrates the leap toward the future that the entire Korean industrial sector, beyond just Gwangju, is demanding."

The council further emphasized, "We will realize a Gwangju where businesses thrive, where young people do not leave but return, and where the city possesses global technological competitiveness. The starting point for this vision is candidate Lee Jae Myung."

The Gwangju Representative Industry Council is composed of representatives from industry, academia, and research institutions in the region, representing 11 industrial sectors: semiconductors, data, future mobility, artificial intelligence, cultural content, energy, medical healthcare, photonics convergence, smart root industry, semiconductors, and design.

Approximately 140 childcare workers from the Seo District also issued a statement of support, saying, "Candidate Lee Jae Myung is a politician who has recognized children not as objects of protection but as holders of rights," and added, "As on-site professionals, we support him so that a second Lee Jae Myung can grow up and so that we can show children the real Korea."

The Korea Housing Managers Association Gwangju Chapter explained its reason for support by stating, "Gwangju is the region with the highest proportion of multi-family housing and the highest conflict index in the country," and "Candidate Lee Jae Myung is the only candidate who can resolve the conflicts in multi-family housing sites, thanks to his diverse experience as a human rights lawyer, mayor of Seongnam, and governor of Gyeonggi Province."

Yang Bunam, the General Director of the Gwangju Election Committee, said at the event where the professional organizations declared their support, "We will directly convey the voices from the industrial field to the party and the candidate, and ensure they are reflected in practical policies," and added, "Gwangju, as an industrial city, is fully qualified to lead the future of Korea, and at this turning point, Gwangju should become a key partner."

Meanwhile, this declaration of support is being regarded as a symbolic case that reflects the local public sentiment, as practical experts from various fields such as industry, welfare, and housing have united their voices in support of candidate Lee Jae Myung.
