Meal Service Volunteering at Bitgoeul Town... Quiet Campaign Activities
Lee Jae Myung to Visit Gwangju and Attend Commemorative Ceremony on the 17th and 18th
Kim Hye Kyung, the spouse of Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung, visited Gwangju on the 14th. On this day, Kim paid a private visit to the May Mothers House located in Bukgu, Gwangju, where she met with the bereaved families of the 5·18 Democratization Movement.

During the meeting, Kim said, "When I was younger, it didn't really hit me, but as time goes by, I feel the hearts of our mothers more deeply." When one of the bereaved family members comforted her by saying, "You must have gone through a lot as well," Kim replied, "Thanks to your support, I can endure even when things are difficult. What I go through is nothing compared to what you have endured."
Earlier that morning, Kim volunteered to serve meals at the cafeteria of Bitgoeul Senior Health Town in Gwangju, greeting local seniors. This is also the place that Kim Jung Sook, the spouse of then-presidential candidate Moon Jae In, frequently visited during the 19th presidential election in 2017, presenting herself as a 'Honam special adviser.' At that time, even after her husband was eliminated from the primary, Kim continued to volunteer for meal service together with Kim Jung Sook.

In this presidential election as well, Kim has continued a quiet campaign, focusing on visits to religious communities rather than official rallies. This approach is interpreted as being mindful of the controversies surrounding Kim Keon Hee, the spouse of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Meanwhile, candidate Lee Jae Myung is scheduled to continue his campaign tour in Jeonnam on the 15th, and on the 17th and 18th, he plans to campaign in Gwangju and attend the commemorative ceremony for the 5·18 Democratization Movement.
