Regarding the Democratic Party's Push for the 'Judge and Prosecutor Punishment Act':
"Judicial Takeover for Lee Jaemyung"
Kwon Seongdong: "The Clear Signal Flare of Lee Jaemyung-Style Dictatorship Politics"
On May 14, the People Power Party convened the Legislation and Judiciary Committee in the National Assembly and criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which had tabled a special prosecutor bill to investigate Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae's alleged involvement in the presidential election, calling it a "parliamentary coup."
Shin Dongwook, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party's central election committee, stated in a commentary that day, "After the Supreme Court issued a ruling suggesting Lee Jaemyung's guilt in the election law case, the Democratic Party forced through a confirmation hearing. When the Chief Justice did not attend, they immediately brought out the so-called 'Cho Hee-dae special prosecutor bill.' The Democratic Party's reckless actions are ultimately all for the benefit of one person, the defendant Lee Jaemyung."

Shin continued, "If they do not like a verdict, they summon the judges, and if the judges do not comply, they threaten them with a special prosecutor. This behavior, which seeks to tear down the law and establish only their own power, is nothing short of a 'parliamentary coup.'"
Earlier, Kwon Seongdong, floor leader of the People Power Party, held an emergency meeting regarding the committee in the National Assembly and sharply criticized the day's hearing, saying, "It is grotesque character assassination to humiliate and retaliate against Supreme Court justices simply because they supposedly tarnished the image of the 'father of the Democratic Party,' candidate Lee Jaemyung. This is the clear signal flare of Lee Jaemyung-style dictatorship politics, which seeks to replace the separation of powers with the domination of all three branches."
Regarding Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Yongmin's proposal of a bill that would allow for up to 10 years in prison for judges or prosecutors who distort the law to manipulate facts or render wrongful verdicts, the People Power Party denounced it as "judicial murder."
Chief spokesperson Shin criticized Kim's proposed amendment to the Criminal Act, saying, "The stated justification is justice, but in reality, it is retaliation against verdicts. The Democratic Party, after threatening to impeach the Chief Justice, pushing for a special prosecutor, and holding a confirmation hearing, is now even pushing a bill to criminally punish the judiciary."
He added, "The idea of increasing the number of Supreme Court justices to 100, the attempt to file constitutional complaints against Supreme Court rulings?these all point in one direction: the judicial takeover for Lee Jaemyung. What the Democratic Party is doing is not judicial reform. It is clearly 'judicial murder.'"
Park Kinyeong, deputy spokesperson for the People Power Party's central election committee, also issued a commentary, stating, "It appears to be a threat to punish any verdicts that do not suit the Democratic Party's preferences. They are preoccupied with laying the groundwork to ultimately make Lee Jaemyung, the so-called 'father,' into a 'supreme leader.'"
Deputy spokesperson Park added, "No matter how much they shackle the judiciary and gag the press, they cannot conceal candidate Lee's crimes. The People Power Party will prevent the Democratic Party from disregarding the separation of powers and establishing a dictatorship to enthrone candidate Lee as the supreme leader."
