Wonjong Park of Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Carries Out "Welfare Task Force" Activities for Elderly Living Alone

Public-Private Cooperation to Support Basic Livelihood Recipient with Hearing Impairment

Wonjong Park, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Yeonggwang 1), recently participated in activities with the "Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force," targeting a household of an elderly person living alone in Yeonggwang-gun, according to an announcement on May 14.

The "Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force" is a public-private partnership organization consisting of about 20 members from related agencies, including the Yeonggwang-eup Self-Sufficiency Center, the Mental Health Total Care Center, disability support organizations, and the Yeonggwang Fire Station. This activity followed a previous welfare task force initiative held in April in Beopseongpo-myeon, and is part of ongoing efforts to identify and support those in welfare blind spots, focusing on on-site outreach.

The recipient of the support was a basic livelihood security beneficiary in their 60s with a hearing impairment. Serious concerns had been raised regarding hygiene and safety, as household waste, outdated home appliances, and hazardous materials had accumulated in the living space for an extended period. In response, the Welfare Task Force focused on improving the poor residential environment by collecting waste, organizing old items, and conducting fire prevention inspections.

Assembly member Park stated, "It is the duty of a provincial assembly member to look after areas that are beyond the reach of administrative services," and added, "I will continue to strengthen cooperation with the local community to improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups."
