Inauguration Mass for Pope to Be Held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican on the 18th (Local Time)

On the 18th (local time), key figures from the Korean Catholic Church will attend the inauguration Mass for Pope Leo XIV, which will be held at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.

According to the Catholic Church on the 14th, Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, Bishop Mathias Lee Yong-hoon, who is the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea, Archbishop Peter Chung Soon-taick, who is the Archbishop of Seoul, and Father Song Young-min, the Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea, will attend the papal inauguration Mass.


It has also been reported that Cardinal Lazarus You Heung-sik, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy, and Monsignor Jung Yeon-jeong, Rector of the Pontifical Korean College in Rome, will participate in the inauguration Mass locally.


In Korea, a 'Thanksgiving Mass for the Election of Pope Leo XIV' will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on June 16 at Myeongdong Cathedral, the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Seoul. Archbishop Giovanni Gaspari, the Apostolic Nuncio to Korea, will also attend this Mass.
