Gongju City Launches Full Operation of "Shared Store" to Support Women Entrepreneurs with Career Interruptions

Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province has officially launched the operation of its specialized project, "Shared Store," designed to support women entrepreneurs who have experienced career interruptions.

On May 13, the city held a "Shared Store Orientation" at the Gongju Women's New Work Center, where it shared the purpose of the project, operational guidelines, and expected outcomes with the participants, according to an announcement on May 14.

About 20 people attended the orientation, including women entrepreneurs and partner store representatives.

"Shared Store" is a specialized project for a women-friendly city promoted by Gongju City. It operates by sharing idle spaces and services of local small business stores with women entrepreneurs who have experienced career interruptions. The aim is to lower the barriers to entrepreneurship for women and to spread a culture of mutual growth within the local community.

During the event, there was an explanation of the Shared Store operation manual and a Q&A session, during which participants expressed high interest and expectations for the project.

Ji Hyungin, head of Gongju City's Department of Women and Family, stated, "Shared Store will become a sustainable model that goes beyond simply sharing spaces, enabling women and the local community to grow together," and added, "We will collaborate with women entrepreneurs to achieve tangible results."

Meanwhile, the city was designated as a women-friendly city by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for the second consecutive time last year, and through the "Shared Store" project, it is accelerating efforts to expand economic participation for women who have experienced career interruptions and to create a women-friendly environment.
