Lim Jongsik, Superintendent of the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, attended the '7th APEC Education Ministers' Meeting General Assembly' held on the morning of May 14, 2025, at the Jeju International Convention Center (ICC JEJU) in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. There, he introduced the global vision and inclusive educational philosophy of Gyeongbuk education to global education leaders.
This general assembly was attended by over 400 participants, including education ministers and senior delegations from the 21 APEC member economies, as well as domestic and international education experts. The event was held under the theme of 'Bridging the Educational Gap and Promoting Sustainable Growth in the Era of Digital Transformation.' Representatives from each country shared strategies for educational innovation using AI and digital technologies through session presentations, and discussed the future direction of education.
At this meeting, Lim Jongsik introduced the values of 'Warm Gyeongbuk Education' and inclusive best practices, and continued his diplomatic efforts by networking with representatives from various countries to request international participation and cooperation for the 'K-EDU Expo,' which the Gyeongbuk Office of Education is promoting in connection with the 2025 APEC Summit.
The K-EDU Expo, with the slogan 'Neo Silk Road,' is envisioned as a global educational cooperation platform that connects APEC and the world through education. It is expected to serve as an opportunity for Gyeongbuk to emerge as a global hub for education.
In addition, prior to the general assembly, on May 13, 2025, at the same venue, Lim Jongsik participated as a panelist in Session 3 (Prosper) of the 'Global Education Reform Conference.' There, he shared future strategies and examples of educational innovation from Gyeongbuk education.
Lim Jongsik stated, "It was a very meaningful occasion to raise the profile of Gyeongbuk education at a venue leading global education policy and to expand the possibilities for global cooperation," adding, "We will continue to realize Gyeongbuk education that connects with the world, centered around the K-EDU Expo."
