Kim Heungkuk, Lee Hyukjae, Noh Hyunhee, and Choi Junyong Attend
"We Are Determined to Support Kim Moonsoo With All Our Might"
Ten conservative-leaning entertainers, including singer Kim Heungkuk, have publicly declared their support for Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party.
On the afternoon of the 13th, they held a press conference at the main auditorium of the People Power Party's central headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and announced their endorsement of Kim Moonsoo. In addition to Kim Heungkuk, the event was attended by comedians Lee Hyukjae, Shin Dongsoo, and Kim Hanbae, as well as actors Choi Junyong and Noh Hyunhee. From the People Power Party, lawmakers Yoon Jaeok, Seo Myeongok, and Lim Ija were present.
At the event, Kim Heungkuk stated, "If it will help the victory on June 3 and support the people on the right, I will join Kim Moonsoo on campaign tours across the country and do my utmost to help. I am determined to support him with all my might, even risking my life." He added, "Rather than speaking at length, I will approach things in a Marine Corps style?direct and to the point." He continued, "The election atmosphere can be stiff, but when right-wing entertainers like us are on the scene, the mood comes alive. When right-wing entertainers visit, we can quickly connect with people who are struggling. This will be a great help in the election," he emphasized.
Lee Hyukjae explained his reason for participating, saying, "For the first time, I have felt respect toward a politician. Watching Kim Moonsoo's life made me realize a lot." He then criticized Lee Jaemyung, the candidate of the Democratic Party, stating, "When entertainers make mistakes, they are held legally and morally responsible, but politicians do not accept even the Supreme Court's final verdict, and they bear neither legal nor moral responsibility. A country like this is unacceptable." Choi Junyong also commented, "Isn't Kim Moonsoo a symbol of integrity and purity?" He added, "As everyone knows, the other candidate has various issues, even if I don't mention them. I trust that the people will make the right judgment."
Finally, Lee Hyukjae remarked, "In Korea, when entertainers support the left, they are praised as 'thoughtful,' but right-wing entertainers lack the courage to step forward due to the current reality." In response, Kim Heungkuk lamented, "If Kim Moonsoo does not become president, right-wing entertainers will have to take another break for several years. We are all Koreans and have worked in broadcasting for a long time, but where else in the world do left-wing entertainers appear on TV while right-wing entertainers cannot?"
Meanwhile, since the official start of the campaign on the 12th, Kim Moonsoo has been focusing on consolidating support in Yeongnam for three days and two nights. This is interpreted as an effort to solidify his base in the early stages of the campaign and use this momentum to promote party unity. On the 14th, Lee Jaemyung and Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, will also visit Busan and Gyeongnam (PK). Coincidentally, all three candidates will be campaigning in the same region for the second consecutive day, following their rallies in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK) the previous day.
