Gyeonggi Province Launches Northern Region Job Matching Program... Aims for 60 Permanent Hires

Gyeonggi Province is launching a job matching package specialized for the northern region.

On May 14, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it will recruit participants for the "Northern Region Specialized Job Matching Package" from May 15 to June 13. The program aims to create jobs tailored to the northern area by connecting young people from specialized high schools and junior colleges with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), supporting them through to permanent employment.

The Northern Region Specialized Job Matching Package was introduced this year to address the job mismatch between young people in the northern region, who face difficulties finding employment due to a lack of job and company information and the prevalence of experienced-based open recruitment, and SMEs struggling with labor shortages.

The program connects young people from specialized high schools and junior colleges in northern Gyeonggi with companies, where they work for three months. After this period, each company conducts its own evaluation and may hire the individual as a permanent employee based on the results.

Last month, Gyeonggi Province selected companies in various fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, and machinery in the northern region through a document review and a screening committee. The province aims to transition a total of 60 participants to permanent positions through these companies.

Eligible applicants are graduates (February 2025) and prospective graduates (August 2025 and February 2026) of specialized high schools and junior colleges located in northern Gyeonggi. Students on leave of absence and currently employed individuals are excluded. However, if someone is already employed by a participating company and meets the eligibility criteria, separate matching is possible.

Bae Jingi, Director of Job and Economic Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "While young people are looking for jobs and companies are seeking talent, it is not easy to actually connect them." He added, "Through region- and target-specific job programs, we will help young people enter the workforce and create a job ecosystem where both young people and companies in the northern region can thrive together."
