The agreement was established to provide systematic and continuous traffic safety education to senior citizens, who are considered vulnerable road users, in order to reduce traffic accidents involving the elderly. Under the agreement, the Seoul branch of the Authority will dispatch professional instructors at least twice a month to welfare centers and senior citizen centers to conduct traffic safety education for both pedestrians and drivers. The education program will run from this month through May 2027.

In addition, starting next month, special lectures on traffic safety will be held every other month at Hannam and Cheongpa Senior Welfare Centers. The district plans to operate a field-oriented, systematic education program by coordinating the schedule in consultation with the Yongsan District branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association.

Yongsan District Mayor Heeyoung Park said, "Senior citizens face a higher risk of accidents while walking, and the fatality rate is also higher in the event of an accident. Through customized visiting education, we will strive to reduce traffic accidents involving senior citizens and to create a safe and healthy traffic environment."
