A fishing vessel has sunk off the coast of Seogwipo, Jeju, and the Coast Guard is currently checking for any casualties.


At approximately 6:11 p.m. on the 13th, the Seogwipo Coast Guard received a report that the nearshore longline fishing vessel 887 Eojinho (29 tons), registered in Moseulpo, was flooding in waters 563 km southwest of Seogwipo, Jeju.

Coast Guard Launches Rescue Operation At 6:11 p.m. on the 13th, a report was received by the Coast Guard that the nearshore longline fishing vessel A (29 tons), registered in Moseulpo, was sinking in the East China Sea, 563 km southwest of Seogwipo, Jeju. According to the Coast Guard, vessel A is currently submerged, and they are confirming the status of any casualties and whether the crew members aboard vessel A have been rescued by nearby fleet vessels. According to the Coast Guard, vessel A is currently reported to be flooding. Although the system shows that there were 10 people on board, a phone call with the vessel owner confirmed that 2 people had disembarked during the voyage, and there are 8 people currently on board. Except for the Korean captain, all 7 other crew members are reported to be Indonesian nationals.


The Coast Guard has dispatched a large patrol vessel to the accident site in the East China Sea and has requested rescue cooperation from relevant agencies, including the Zhejiang RCC (Rescue Coordination Center) in China, the Navy, and nearby vessels. They are checking the status of any casualties and whether the crew members of vessel A have been rescued.


As of 8 p.m. on the same day, the large patrol vessel and a Coast Guard aircraft are en route to the accident site, and no one has been rescued yet.
