On May 13, Oh Seungrok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the completion ceremony celebrating the opening of the first phase of the Choansan Barrier-Free Forest Trail in the afternoon.
Currently, major mountains in Nowon District, including Suraksan, Bulamsan, and Yeongchuksan, each have their own barrier-free forest trails. The newly opened Choansan Barrier-Free Forest Trail is also part of the district's efforts to enhance resident safety and convenience as a component of forest welfare. Through this initiative, residents from all areas are expected to enjoy nature without exclusion.
The first phase, opened with funding from Seoul City subsidies and special grants secured by the district, stretches approximately 1 kilometer from Cheongbaek 1st Apartment Complex in Wolgye-dong to Wolgye Spark Golf Course. The trail is a deck path designed without slopes or steps, allowing anyone to walk comfortably. Its "barrier-free" design especially accommodates the elderly, wheelchair users, and those with strollers.
On the day of the event, more than 100 local residents, along with Mayor Oh Seungrok and city and district council members, attended to walk the forest trail together and celebrate its opening.
The district plans to accelerate the construction of the second phase, a 600-meter section extending from the endpoint at Wolgye Spark Golf Course to Wolgye Station on Subway Line 1. Through this, the district aims to further improve the accessibility and utilization of the barrier-free forest trail, thereby enhancing forest welfare for residents.
Mayor Oh Seungrok stated, "Creating paths where everyone can comfortably enjoy nature is true welfare," adding, "We will continue to listen to our residents and steadily increase the number of walkable paths in daily life."
