On the morning of May 13, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it held a 'Reception to Promote Cooperation in the Aircraft Maintenance Industry Sector' with senior executives from Atlas Air at the corporation's meeting room.

The reception was attended by Lee Hakjae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, Klaus Goersch, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Atlas Air Worldwide, and Baek Sunseok, CEO of Sharp Technics K.

President Lee expressed his deep gratitude to Atlas Air for its contributions to Incheon Airport's rise last year to third place in international air cargo rankings, according to the Airports Council International (ACI).

Atlas Air stated that, with the scheduled opening of its cargo aircraft maintenance facility at Incheon Airport in early 2027, it plans to establish Korea as a maintenance hub for the Asia-Pacific region. The facility, which is being developed by AATS as the project operator, will be a specialized heavy maintenance hangar for cargo aircraft with a capacity of 2.5 bays.

Through this reception, the two companies agreed to continue strengthening their mutual cooperation in the future. They also held in-depth discussions on key areas of potential collaboration in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), including aircraft parts repair and supply chain integration.

President Lee stated, "Going forward, we plan to strengthen mutual cooperation with leading global companies in the aviation MRO sector and expand investment attraction, thereby solidifying Incheon Airport's position as a world-class aircraft maintenance hub."
