This inventory survey of government grain aims to verify the exact quantity and storage conditions of government grain currently held by Jeongeup City. It will also check for any quality deterioration and assess the overall management status of warehouse facilities, including safety storage conditions. The goal is to prevent various disasters or accidents that may occur during storage.
The city has formed 20 joint inspection teams consisting of city hall and township officials to inspect 81 storage warehouses and rice milling factories within the jurisdiction. These inspections are conducted regularly twice a year, once in the first half and once in the second half of the year.
In particular, as storage risks such as grain pest infestations increase during the summer season when temperatures rise above 15°C, the city plans to supply fumigation agents in advance to each storage warehouse during this inspection period to proactively prevent pests and manage quality.
To ensure the safe and clean storage of grain, the city will supply a total of 630 cans of fumigation agents (1 can = 100 tablets) as needed for each warehouse. On-site training will also be provided on the characteristics of the agents, precautions when handling them, and safe usage methods to ensure proper use of the agents.
A city official stated, "Government grain is a core asset for national food security, and its importance cannot be overstated." The official added, "We will continue to thoroughly manage the quality and safety of government grain through ongoing inventory surveys and storage inspections so that citizens can feel assured."
