In the first civil trial regarding the suspected sudden unintended acceleration accident in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, in December 2022 that resulted in the death of Lee Mo (aged 12 at the time), the plaintiff lost the case. The Civil Division 2 of the Gangneung Branch of the Chuncheon District Court, presided over by Chief Judge Park Sangjun, ruled against the plaintiff in the damage claim lawsuit filed by Lee's family against KGM, which sought 920 million won in compensation.
