"Please Do Your Best in Kim Moonsoo's Campaign Committee"
"Criticizing the Party and Candidate... Clearly an Act of Betrayal"
Na Kyungwon, a member of the People Power Party and co-chair of the joint election campaign committee, has called on former Daegu Mayor Hong Joonpyo, former party leader Han Donghoon, and former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo to unite for victory in the presidential election. This move is seen as a response to the fact that all those who had competed against Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, have declined to serve as co-chairs of the joint campaign committee.
On May 13, through social media, Na stated, "Internal attacks that point guns at the candidate and the party from the outside are utterly harmful," and appealed, "In Kim's campaign committee and in your respective positions, I ask you to do your utmost together for the people and the country."
She went on to argue, "Even though the primary ended with the choice of party members and the public, attaching all sorts of conditions and hesitating to offer support, while criticizing the candidate and the party as if acting as a spokesperson for Lee Jaemyung's camp, is clearly an act of betrayal."
Na also recalled, "In the first stage of the People Power Party's presidential primary, each candidate solemnly pledged before party members and the public, through a written oath, to accept the results of the primary and to join forces with the winner to do their utmost for the party's victory in the presidential election." She questioned, "Are all of us truly joining forces with Kim to do our utmost for victory in the presidential election now?"
She continued, "I earnestly ask former Mayor Hong, former leader Han, and former Prime Minister Han, who fought passionately together to save the people and the country, to join for the greater cause," and added, "I hope you will do whatever it takes to participate, even if it means seeking or creating your own roles." In particular, former leader Han has repeatedly urged Kim to issue a public apology regarding the issues of martial law and impeachment.
Na added, "Failing to win this election would be an indelible sin in history," and suggested, "If there are differences of opinion, come into the melting pot of the campaign committee, communicate and coordinate, melt them together, and create better solutions."
