Prospects for Medical Policy Governance Discussions
Focused Campaign Rally at Memorial Central Park
Pledge to Introduce 'Three Major Public Safety Enhancement Systems'
Junseok Lee, the presidential candidate of the Reformist Party, continued his campaign on May 13, the second day of the official presidential election campaign period, by visiting the Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) region.
In the morning, Lee held a picketing campaign during rush hour at Jukjeon Intersection in Daegu. Since early last month, around the time of the impeachment trial of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, Lee has been visiting Daegu daily to greet citizens on their way to and from work, aiming to expand his influence within the conservative bloc.
Afterwards, Lee is scheduled to visit Kyungpook National University to have a meal with students at a campus cafeteria. At this event, he plans to listen to the concerns of the younger generation and work to secure youth votes. The previous day, Lee pledged financial support for young people as one of his top ten campaign promises. The proposal is a loan product that allows individuals aged 19 to 34 to borrow up to 5 million won per quarter, with a total maximum limit of 50 million won, at a fixed annual interest rate of 1.7%, with no restrictions on usage.
In the afternoon, Lee will visit the Daegu Medical Association Hall to hold a roundtable discussion on current medical issues. He plans to discuss topics such as forming medical policy governance for the establishment of a sustainable future healthcare system and reforming the structure of the national health insurance system, with a focus on healthcare policy.

After the forum, Lee will visit Chilseong Market to hold a busking-style meeting with merchants, and at 7 p.m., during the evening rush hour, he will stage a focused campaign rally at the 2·28 Memorial Central Park in Jung-gu, Daegu, together with Chun Haram, the chief election campaign director. On the first day of the official campaign, Lee emphasized at Gwanghwamun Cheonggye Plaza, "Now is the time to break the cycle of populism and build a sustainable Republic of Korea where future generations can live with peace of mind."
Additionally, Lee announced his 15th campaign pledge, which is to introduce the 'Three Major Public Safety Enhancement Systems' utilizing the expertise of retired police officers. The plan centers on appointing retired police officers who meet certain requirements as local government community safety managers and deploying them as auxiliary security personnel in areas vulnerable to everyday crime, such as school zones, parks, traditional markets, and high-risk areas at night.
Furthermore, Lee plans to address concerns over the proliferation of unqualified private investigation firms and privacy violations by institutionalizing the 'Certified Private Investigator System' and introducing the 'Crime Victim Support Officer System' to protect victims of high-risk repeat offenses such as stalking, home intrusion, sexual violence, and dating violence.
