Gwangyang Steelworks 'Park1538' Receives Positive Response from Local Community

Experience the Importance and Development of the Steel Industry

Since its opening on April 3, Park1538, the promotional center of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (headed by Ko Jae-yoon), has welcomed approximately 1,500 visitors over the course of about a month, up to May 9, gaining significant positive response from the local community.


The high-quality content of the promotional center and the diverse exhibitions at the art museum have continued to receive positive feedback from citizens, establishing Park1538 as a cultural landmark in the region.

The Park1538 promotional center is a space that introduces the history and technology of Gwangyang Steelworks, and is open to all citizens by reservation. The center consists of nine interactive exhibition and video content zones, including a video theater and history·product exhibition zones, allowing local residents and tourists to experience the importance and development of the steel industry.


The center offers a variety of exhibitions and experiential programs, such as an immersive video theater, a vision theater featuring realistic media art, model-based facilities that concisely demonstrate steelworks processes, and a product exhibition zone displaying applications in industries such as energy and shipbuilding, as well as in everyday home appliances. These features provide both educational and engaging experiences for visitors.


To enable citizens to enjoy high-quality culture and art, the POSCO Art Museum, built alongside the promotional center, showcases a variety of artworks. Its inaugural exhibition, running until August 31, features 33 pieces from the POSCO collection, including "ULTRA MARINE" by Yoon Hyung-geun and "Ecriture No.930909" by Park Seo-bo.


The POSCO Art Museum plans to continue contributing to the development of local culture by organizing diverse exhibitions and rich cultural programs through ongoing collaboration with local artists.


An official from Gwangyang Steelworks stated on May 13, "Park1538 is serving as a bridge with the local community and is developing into a space that harmonizes culture and industry. We plan to attract more visitors through various programs and exhibitions, and to contribute to the development of local culture by planning programs that enable ongoing communication with the community."


Meanwhile, Park1538 Gwangyang, which operates on a reservation basis, is open to everyone for free via its official website, and the visit takes about 60 minutes. The art museum is also open for general admission without reservation.
