20,000 Won Subsidy for Train Fare and Accommodation
Travel Packages to Danyang, Andong, and Suncheon Now Available
The Small Enterprise and Market Service announced on May 13 that, in cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization, it will operate the Paldo Jangteo Tourist Train starting from May 14 to mark the spring season.
The Paldo Jangteo Tourist Train is a rail travel package designed to promote local economic revitalization and traditional markets. It allows participants to experience a variety of local foods and natural scenery centered around unique regional traditional markets. The package provides a train fare subsidy of 20,000 won, accommodation support of 20,000 won, and a 10,000 won Onnuri gift certificate.
This time, the travel packages have been planned to include some of the top 10 K-Tourism Markets selected by the Korea Tourism Organization, allowing participants to visit Danyang Gugyeong Market in North Chungcheong Province, Andong Old Market in North Gyeongsang Province, Suncheon Utjang Market in South Jeolla Province, and nearby tourist attractions.
In the case of Danyang, the package includes a visit to Gugyeong Market, famous for its wide variety of garlic-based foods, as well as local attractions such as Dodamsambong Peaks, Guinsa Temple, and Danuri Aquarium, offering a comprehensive experience of Danyang’s charm. Reservations will be accepted until June 8, and the train will operate on June 15.
Andong’s representative traditional market, Old Market, is a culinary hotspot where visitors can taste local specialties such as Andong Jjimdak, salted mackerel, and Heotjesatbap all in one place. The package also includes experiences such as a tour of Hahoe Village and traditional liquor making. Similarly, reservations will be accepted until June 8, and the train will operate on June 15.
The Suncheonman train tour offers a visit to Utjang Market, Suncheon’s representative traditional market where visitors can experience the hospitality and abundant food of the southern region, as well as major attractions such as Suncheonman National Garden and the drama filming set. Reservations will be accepted until May 31, and the train will operate on June 7.
