'Chicken Ice Cream' That Went Viral on US Social Media... CU Launches Industry's First BGF Retail's convenience store CU announced on the 13th that it has launched the 'Chicken Ice Cream,' which sparked a social media craze across the United States. Provided by BGF Retail.

The Chicken Ice Cream became a social media sensation across the United States starting last summer. Videos related to it gained widespread attention on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, and "Unfried Chicken Ice Cream" became a popular search term on Google Trends in the United States. Despite its high price of over $100 (approximately 150,000 KRW) for a box of nine, the product was so popular that it frequently sold out.

CU's Chicken Ice Cream is characterized by its realistic appearance that closely resembles actual fried chicken. The outer layer is coated with corn crunch to mimic the crispy texture of real chicken batter. Inside, soft milk ice cream is coated with white chocolate to maintain the shape of a chicken drumstick.

The price of CU's Chicken Ice Cream is 2,800 KRW. The company explained that this is more than 70% cheaper than the American Chicken Ice Cream, which sells for 16,000 KRW per piece.

Han Jeongju, MD (Merchandiser) of the Snack Food Team at BGF Retail, said, "As interest in popular overseas products has been growing recently through social media, we are focusing on agile product planning to satisfy customers' curiosity," adding, "We will continue to introduce differentiated products that can offer new experiences to consumers in the future."
