Gijang Market Autonomous Commercial District Donates 3,179,500 KRW for Neighbor Assistance Fund

Gijang County in Busan announced on May 13 that the Gijang Market Autonomous Commercial District (headed by Kim Dongchan, Chairman of the Autonomous Commercial District Association) recently donated 3,179,500 KRW to support vulnerable groups in the county.

With an 80-year tradition, Gijang Market in Busan was designated as an autonomous commercial district in 2024 and has since been pursuing various projects to rebuild the traditional market’s commercial area and revitalize the autonomous district.

The donated funds were raised through contributions from merchants and stakeholders of the Gijang Market Autonomous Commercial District and will be delivered to low-income and vulnerable groups in Gijang County through the Busan Community Chest of Korea.

Kim Dongchan, Chairman of the Association, said, "I hope this donation will provide some support to vulnerable families during these difficult times of ongoing economic crisis," and added, "We will continue to engage in various activities and sharing for the local community."

Jeong Jongbok, County Governor, expressed his gratitude for the support for vulnerable groups in Gijang County and stated, "We will ensure that the donated funds are properly delivered to those in need."
