The 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Shines Brighter with Resident Participation in Parades

A 1.5km Parade with Ten Million Roses to Be Held in Splendor Along Jungnangcheon
A Colorful Rose Path Festival Planned and Participated by Residents of Each Neighborhood

The 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Shines Brighter with Resident Participation in Parades

The 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival will be held from May 16 to May 24, 2025, for nine days, along the Jungnangcheon Rose Tunnel, which will be adorned with ten million roses.

In particular, the "Rose Parade," which will take place on the first day of the festival starting at 3 p.m., is a signature resident participation event where local residents take center stage. The parade will begin at the Rose Light Street, pass through the Rose Tunnel and the park golf course, and proceed to the main stage, covering a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometers in a vibrant display. Every year, residents design and participate in the parade with a different theme, creating a lively procession that receives enthusiastic responses. This year, the parade will be held under the theme "Colorful Rose Path," featuring a total of eight different colors of roses.

Each neighborhood is preparing its own uniquely themed parade. The Junghwa 1-dong Rose Parade Promotion Committee, under the slogan "Number 1 Jungnang, Number 1 Junghwa 1-dong," will have about 100 residents wearing rose dresses, flower crowns, bracelets, and other handmade rose accessories and costumes, expressing their pride in Junghwa 1-dong.

The parade theme for Sangbong 2-dong is "The Little Prince." The parade will be organized around the story of the Little Prince and residents embarking on a rosy journey together at the Rose Festival. Residents are gathering to share ideas for decorating the parade, making roses that represent the Little Prince, and preparing to welcome visitors to the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival.

Myeonmok 5-dong is drawing attention with a unique parade that reenacts a traditional Korean wedding ceremony. Centered on the wedding of Gapdoli and Gapsuni, about 80 residents, including a samulnori troupe, community center Pilates instructors, and students, will come together to create a scene of harmony.

Myeonmok 3·8-dong will present a fusion of modern and traditional culture with costumes representing a "wave of green roses" and a lively pungmul performance. The pungmul play is expected to further enhance the festive atmosphere for residents.

Ryu Gyeonggi, head of Jungnang District Office, said, "The Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival is a participatory festival where each and every resident becomes the main character," and added, "I hope this festival will be a time for all residents to laugh, enjoy, and create precious memories together."
