Daegu Police Agency Opens Integrated Election Security Situation Room for 21st Presidential Election

Full-Scale Election Security System Launched
Ensuring Candidate Safety and Strict Response to Illegal Activities

The Daegu Police Agency announced on May 13 that, in preparation for the 21st presidential election, it has opened an 'Integrated Election Security Situation Room' starting from May 12 and has entered a full-scale election security system.

Through this measure, the Daegu police plan to implement comprehensive responses to ensure a safe election environment until election day.

From May 12 until election day on June 3, for a total of 23 days, the Daegu police will deploy a cumulative total of 5,000 personnel to approximately 980 locations, including polling stations and ballot counting centers, to maintain strict security and prepare for any contingencies.

In particular, patrols will be intensified at ballot paper storage facilities and polling stations, armed officers will be assigned to escort ballot boxes, and police personnel will be deployed throughout the entire process of transporting early voting mail, which is of significant public interest, to ensure a safe election.

Additionally, the Daegu Police Agency will mobilize all police functions, including riot squads, mobile units, and detectives, to operate an emergency work system for the safety of candidates, and will maximize available personnel to strengthen phased response measures.

Meanwhile, since April 9, the Daegu Police Agency has been strengthening enforcement against election-related crimes through its 'Election Offense Investigation Situation Room.' Beginning with candidate registration on May 10, a two-stage crackdown system has been implemented, and the agency is taking a zero-tolerance approach to violations of election laws.

Alongside election security, the Daegu police will also carry out special crime prevention activities to maintain public safety. Preventive measures will continue to be implemented to ensure there are no gaps in public safety until the end of the election.

Lee Seunghyeop, Commissioner of the Daegu Police Agency, emphasized, "During this election period, we will prioritize the safety of candidates and respond firmly to election interference and illegal activities to ensure a peaceful election environment."
