Korea Railroad Corporation announced on May 12 that it will implement the "Future Tomorrow Work Experience (Internship Type)" program for 207 unemployed young people in the first half of this year.
This program, overseen by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, aims to support the practical job preparation process for unemployed youth aged 15 to 34 by providing job experience opportunities such as hands-on training and mentoring from current employees.
Through this initiative, KORAIL plans to offer unemployed young people the chance to experience jobs in the railway sector, including administrative work, customer guidance and order maintenance, and station operations, at its Daejeon headquarters, 12 regional headquarters nationwide, and railway stations.
In particular, during the program, KORAIL employees will directly provide training on report writing and conduct interview mentoring based on the National Competency Standards (NCS), helping participants to enhance their understanding of job roles and develop the competencies required in actual employment settings.
Participants are recruited by region each month, including the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Honam, and Gyeongsang regions. Selected young people will work for two to three months at either the headquarters or regional offices. Applications can be submitted through the KORAIL website.
Meanwhile, KORAIL has operated the work experience program since 2023. A total of 725 young people have participated so far, gaining experience in railway-related job roles.
