Jangheung County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Sung), announced on May 12, 2025, that it had been selected as an outstanding city or county in South Jeolla Province in the 2025 (2024 performance) government joint evaluation, securing a total of 38 million won in financial incentives, including 30 million won in project funds and 8 million won in reward money.

The county achieved targets on 77 out of 84 quantitative evaluation indicators, recording a 92% achievement rate. In particular, it ranked first among the 22 cities and counties in the province in indicators such as the digital government performance management level assessment, the execution rate of vouchers for sports classes for people with disabilities, and the health checkup participation rate among medical benefit recipients.

In the qualitative evaluation, 15 out of 16 indicators were selected as outstanding cases in the province, including excellent cases in policies to expand cultural accessibility, cases promoting bicycle use, and citizen-participatory veterans’ cultural events and experiences. These achievements were recognized as creative and innovative.

The government joint evaluation is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluates 17 provinces and metropolitan cities regarding state-delegated affairs and key national policies, while South Jeolla Province evaluates its 22 cities and counties. The evaluation consists of a quantitative assessment of target achievement and a qualitative assessment of outstanding cases, allowing for an objective and comprehensive comparison of administrative capabilities among cities and counties.

Governor Kim Sung stated, "This achievement is the result of the efforts of all 100 indicator managers who worked together to improve performance amid fierce competition among cities and counties over the past year." He added, "In response to increasingly diverse administrative demands, we will continue to pursue proactive governance across all areas of county administration and deliver results that meet expectations."
