Police: "Hacking Group Behind SK Telecom USIM Data Leak Not Yet Identified"

On May 12, the police stated that they have "not yet identified the hacking group" in connection with the SK Telecom USIM information leak incident.

At a regular press briefing that day, a police official said, "We are currently securing and analyzing digital information such as the affected server and malicious code to determine the intrusion route," adding, "Based on this, we are conducting an Internet Protocol (IP) trace."


Regarding the investigation into SK Telecom, the police explained, "On April 30, a complaint was filed against SK Telecom, and on May 1, a criminal complaint was filed against SKT officials."


On April 18, SK Telecom confirmed that some information related to user USIMs had been leaked due to malicious code planted by hackers. The leaked information is known to include unique identification numbers used to identify each subscriber's USIM.
