Used as Foundational Data for Public Health Policy Development
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province, led by Mayor Choi Kyungsik, announced on May 12 that it will conduct the "2025 Community Health Survey" targeting approximately 900 adults aged 19 or older from May 16 to July 31.
The Community Health Survey, conducted in accordance with Article 4 of the Regional Public Health Act and overseen by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, is carried out simultaneously at 258 public health centers nationwide. The survey is designed to accurately assess the health status of citizens and serves as foundational data for establishing customized public health policies that reflect regional characteristics and citizens' needs.
For households selected as survey participants, a notification letter and a project information booklet will be sent by mail before the survey begins. Afterwards, a professionally trained surveyor will visit each household in person, wearing a uniform (vest) and an ID badge bearing the seal of the public health center director, and will conduct a one-on-one interview using a tablet PC for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
The survey consists of in-depth questions about health behaviors such as smoking, drinking, physical activity, and nutrition intake; chronic disease management behaviors including hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases; mental health and stress levels; and quality of life.
A public health center official stated, "The valuable opinions of citizens will serve as the foundation for creating a healthy community," and added, "All responses are kept confidential and the survey results are used only for statistical purposes, so we kindly ask for your active participation and cooperation when the surveyor visits."
