Daegu Ilmeister High School (Principal Kim Kyungil) announced on May 12 that, as a result of its global on-site learning program, four of its 2025 graduates have achieved the remarkable feat of securing employment at BEW (Berliner Energie und W?rme GmbH), a power company in Berlin, Germany.
The four students who succeeded in gaining employment in Germany will complete the Ausbildung program, Germany's vocational education system, which combines theoretical and practical training. Through this process, the students have grown into skilled technical professionals with global competencies and will go on to work at BEW.
Graduates of Daegu Ilmeister High School are taking a commemorative photo with employees of a German power company. Among the six graduates seated in the front, the four on the right have been accepted.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy because, despite the high language barrier, all of the students who secured employment obtained at least the Telc B1 German language certification, establishing a solid linguistic foundation.
While attending school, the students actively participated in various programs to strengthen their global competencies, consistently improved their German language and job-related skills through after-school activities and one-on-one online lessons with native German speakers, and, in the second semester of 2024, successfully completed a two-month internship in Germany, enhancing their adaptability in the field.
The students who have confirmed their employment at BEW stated, "Starting with our employment at BEW, we aim to pursue further studies at STB University of Applied Sciences and complete the Meister (master craftsman) program. After obtaining a degree from the Technical University of Berlin, we hope to return to Korea and create even more opportunities. We will continue to work tirelessly to achieve these goals."
Principal Kim Kyungil emphasized, "This achievement demonstrates that students can fully realize their desired futures through vocational education," and added, "Based on this success, we will actively support more students in pursuing their dreams."
Meanwhile, Daegu Ilmeister High School plans to continue providing multifaceted support so that students can proactively design their futures. This includes not only overseas employment opportunities but also career exploration activities, competency-building programs, and employment-linked initiatives, enabling students to explore and prepare for a variety of career paths.
