10,000 Regional Discount Coupons Distributed
in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang
The Korea Tourism Organization will launch a large-scale "Travel+Companion" campaign focused on the Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang regions until mid-July to support the recovery of areas affected by wildfires.
Under the slogan "Travel that Revitalizes Regions, Companionship that Connects Hearts," the campaign aims to convey the message that travel can help restore daily life in affected areas and serve as a way to share compassion. The organization will not only promote major tourist attractions in wildfire-affected areas, such as Andong Hahoe Village and Hadong Ssanggyesa Temple, but will also offer special travel benefits linked to existing programs such as the Digital Tourism Resident Card and the Worker Vacation Support Project.
The "Korea Travel Easy" website and mobile app will provide an overview of the main benefits of this campaign. First, information on 22 tourist attractions recommended by local governments in wildfire-affected areas and domestic branches of the organization will be available. In addition, special discount travel packages created in collaboration with local travel agencies, such as the "Yeongdeok One-Day Train Tour" and the "Ulsan-Hadong-Sancheong Danbi Tour," will be offered. A portion of the proceeds from these travel packages will be donated to wildfire-affected areas.
Furthermore, both online and offline visit verification events will be held to encourage visits to wildfire-affected regions. By checking information on recommended attractions and participating in a quiz or verifying a visit to the area by June 20, about 1,000 participants will be selected by lottery to receive prizes such as Galaxy Buds Pro 3, Onnuri gift certificates, and Naver Pay coupons.
Benefits through the Digital Tourism Resident Card will also be available. In June, a social contribution travel program will be held in wildfire-affected areas, with participation from about 300 digital tourism residents. Ten thousand coupons, each valued from 10,000 to 500,000 won and usable in the region for items such as "Andong Hanok Stay Accommodation Vouchers" and "Hadong Cable Car Passes," will be distributed to digital tourism residents.
Additionally, the Paldo Market Tourism Train, centered on Andong Old Market, which was selected as one of the top 10 K-Tourism Markets, will offer experiences such as salted mackerel, Heotjesatbap, and traditional liquors. In connection with the Worker Vacation Support Project, a special promotion will be held at the dedicated online mall "Vacation Shop." From June 2 to July 17, customers who purchase accommodation products in North Gyeongsang Province for 100,000 won or more will receive a discount of up to 50%, with a maximum limit of 50,000 won.
Detailed information about the campaign can be found on the "Korea Travel Easy" website. The organization plans to continuously promote tourist attractions and travel content in wildfire-affected areas through official SNS channels such as the "Korea Travel Easy" Instagram and Naver Blog during the campaign period, in order to increase public interest.
Lee Sangmin, Acting Director of the National Tourism Headquarters, stated, "Travel to these regions is the best form of support, so the organization has recommended holding various offline events in wildfire-affected areas, starting with the regional tourism organization council event held in Yeongdeok at the end of April." He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that tourism in wildfire-affected areas recovers as quickly as possible through this campaign."
