Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization are accepting applications for participants in the "Worker Vacation Expense Support Project" until May 14.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced on May 12 that, with about 1,400 people having applied so far, it plans to recruit an additional 1,000 participants by May 14.
Eligible applicants include non-regular workers whose total annual income is 42 million won or less, special-type workers such as insurance planners, delivery drivers, and visiting instructors, as well as ultra-short-term workers who work less than 15 hours per week.
If a participant deposits 150,000 won, Gyeonggi Province will provide an additional 250,000 won in support, resulting in a total of 400,000 won in savings.
This amount can be used through the dedicated online mall (https://ggvacation.ezwel.com) to purchase domestic travel and leisure products such as accommodations, transportation, attraction tickets, and movie or performance admissions. The usage period is until November 30, and purchases of travel and cultural products are available nationwide, including Jeju Island.
A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "Now in its sixth year, the vacation expense support project aims to improve the quality of life for workers who are relatively underserved in terms of travel and culture," adding, "We hope many people will benefit, as the support can be used not only for travel but also for purchasing cultural products such as performances and movies."
Meanwhile, according to last year's project statistics, 62% of participants purchased accommodation products, while 17% purchased cultural and leisure products, including movie tickets.
