On-site Inspection of the Hapcheon Video Theme Park Lumina Night Content Creation Project

Nighttime Landscape Lighting to Be Completed in July
Trial Operation During Ghost Park Festival in August

Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on May 12 that it had inspected the site of the "Hapcheon Video Theme Park Lumina Night Content Creation Project," which is part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's tourism resource development initiative.

Approximately 40 people attended the interim briefing session, including County Governor Kim Yooncheol, Deputy Governor Jang Jaehyuk, Director of Economic and Cultural Affairs Park Minjwa, Chairman of the Hapcheon County Facilities Management Corporation Cho Sooil, Director of Hapcheon Monorail Moon Seoksun, and representatives from content companies. The group started at the entrance of the video theme park, passed through the Cheongwadae set, and continued to the Bonsai Park section. At each site, they conducted comprehensive checks on lighting brightness, sound, and other elements through on-site demonstrations of each content, aiming to achieve optimal nighttime landscape lighting.

This project involves installations at several locations: Hapcheon Video Theme Park, the largest open set in Korea with an area of 74,629 square meters built in 2004 and set against the backdrop of the 1920s to the 1980s; the Cheongwadae set, which is used for various dramas, films, and meetings; and Bonsai Park, a Korean-style garden themed around bonsai, covering 80,463 square meters.

By creating nighttime landscape lighting that immerses visitors in the atmosphere and sentiment of the video theme park and the uniquely Korean garden concepts of Bonsai Park, the county aims to expand differentiated tourism content, increase visitor satisfaction through attractions and photo zones, attract more tourists, and ultimately boost the local resident population.

This project was selected as a balanced development special project in 2022, with full-scale implementation beginning in 2023. A total budget of 4.6 billion KRW has been invested to complete installations at 43 locations: three exhibition models (entrance sculpture, train, love tree), ten video content sites (media facade, hologram, mapping video, interactive media, etc.), and thirty specialized nighttime lighting sites (Milky Way lighting, laser lighting, fiber optic lighting, reed lighting, dandelion lighting, flexible lighting, etc.). The current completion rate is approximately 80%.

Main project features include: ▲the video theme park entrance gate and train (sculpture, landscape lighting); ▲Luminarie (gateway lighting); ▲tram platform (media facade); ▲Japanese Government-General of Korea and Gyeongseong Station (media facade, landscape lighting); ▲Namyeong-dong iron bridge (gobo lighting, landscape lighting); ▲Wongudan and flower tunnel (landscape lighting); ▲Cheongwadae set (media facade, landscape lighting); ▲Korean garden pond and waterfall (decorative lighting, hologram video); ▲outdoor Bonsai Park love tree (mapping video); ▲dichroic sculpture (landscape lighting); ▲elephant slide and children's park (landscape lighting, mapping video); and ▲forest trail deck (landscape lighting). These installations create vibrant and beautiful lighting effects throughout the video theme park and Bonsai Park.

The remaining work includes installing monorail line bar lighting and gatepost lighting along the forest trail between Bonsai Park and the monorail. The county plans to address issues and additional requirements identified during the interim briefing by the end of June. Detailed operational plans, including facility safety checks, staffing, safety management, and publicity, will be established by July, with trial operations scheduled for early August. Various events will also be held in conjunction with festivals such as the Ghost Park Festival at the video theme park.

Governor Kim Yooncheol stated, "As the filming location for numerous movies and dramas such as 'Poksak Sokassuda,' 'Chief Detective: The Beginning,' and 'Jeongnyeoni,' we will further expand the scope of tourism content through differentiated nighttime landscape lighting befitting Korea's largest open set, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
