Public Viewing Open Until June 9
Resident Briefing Session Scheduled for May 23
Yongsan-gu, Seoul will conduct a public viewing of the 'Hangang Mansion Apartment Reconstruction Maintenance Zone and Maintenance Plan (Amendment) (Draft)' until June 9.
The Hangang Mansion reconstruction plan has been revised from the original 68 floors to a maximum of 59 floors, with a total of 1,685 units. This amendment, which reflects input from public architects and the Seoul City Urban Planning Committee, was officially submitted to Yongsan-gu Office in April.
The maintenance plan draft includes various public contribution measures, such as a street park connected to Hangang Park, securing a green corridor from the Hangang River to Namsan, and creating a pedestrian-friendly green space from Ichon Station to Hangang Park. In addition, improvements to the living environment will be pursued, including relocating the cramped Ichon-dong Community Center and arranging street-facing commercial facilities along Ichon-ro.
The public viewing materials can be accessed at the Housing Division on the 7th floor of Yongsan-gu Office and at the Hangang Mansion Apartment Reconstruction Association office. Residents can submit their opinions to the Housing Division either by registered mail or by visiting in person. On May 23, the district will hold a resident briefing session at the Dream Room Theater on the 4th floor of the Yongsan Youth Center, and will then proceed with steps such as collecting opinions from the district council and applying for integrated review by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Completed in 1971, Hangang Mansion is currently a low-rise complex with 5 floors and 660 households. The reconstruction process has included the formation of a promotion committee in 2003, establishment of an association in 2017, project implementation approval in 2021, and management disposition approval in 2022. The construction company is GS Engineering & Construction.
Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, stated, "We will actively support the project so that it can move forward swiftly by fully collecting residents' opinions through this public viewing, which will help overcome the stagnation experienced during the maintenance plan amendment process."
