For military service, Lee Jaemyung was classified as wartime labor service due to aftereffects of a fracture, and Kim Moonsoo was also classified as wartime labor service due to aftereffects of a radical middle ear surgery. Lee Junseok, Gu Juwa, and Song Jin-ho reported that they completed their military service.

The candidate numbers were assigned as follows: No. 1 Lee Jaemyung of the Democratic Party, No. 2 Kim Moonsoo of the People Power Party, No. 4 Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party, No. 5 Kwon Youngguk of the Democratic Labor Party, No. 6 Gu Juwa of the Liberal Unification Party, No. 7 Hwang Kyoan as an independent, and No. 8 Song Jin-ho as an independent.

Under the current Public Official Election Act, candidate numbers are assigned in order of the number of seats held by each party in the National Assembly. Number 3 was left vacant because the third-largest party in the Assembly, the Innovation Party for the Fatherland, did not nominate a candidate.

Candidates from parties without seats are assigned numbers in alphabetical order of their party names, and independent candidates are assigned numbers according to the order drawn by the Election Commission.
