Official Election Campaign Begins on the 12th
Acting President Orders Maximum Security for Presidential Candidates
Ahead of the official launch of the 21st presidential election, Lee Juho, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Education, instructed the police on May 11 to ensure the utmost security for the candidates.

According to the Ministry of Education, Acting President Lee directed the National Police Agency on this day to devote all efforts to the protection and safety management of the candidates during the election campaign period.
Lee particularly emphasized that, given the recent intensification of social conflicts, the highest level of security and safety measures?mobilizing all available resources?would be necessary for this presidential election.
He further stated, "Elections are the foundation of democracy, and any threat against candidates can never be tolerated," stressing the importance of making every effort to protect the personal safety and security of the candidates throughout the campaign period.
