An incident in which a Korean woman was subjected to racism and assault during a street livestream in Toulouse, southern France, has sparked controversy in the local community.

According to French media outlets 3 Occitanie and BFM TV on May 10, Jinnytty, a Korean streamer with over one million subscribers on Twitch, was conducting a live broadcast in downtown Toulouse on May 7 when she was subjected to racist remarks and a physical attack by a local man.

At the time, Jinnytty was filming herself in a selfie format while walking down the street when a white man on a kick scooter passed by and shouted at her, "What are you filming? Dirty Chinese woman. Get lost, you dirty whore," hurling insults at her.

In addition, he approached her and struck the camera she was holding, committing physical violence without hesitation. The broadcast footage captured not only the incident itself but also the visibly shocked and distressed victim.

Jinnytty expressed her bewilderment, saying, "I was filming my own face, not that man. Isn't this a public place?" Viewers urged her to "run away" or "report it to the police," but she replied, "I don't think I'll get any help even if I report it," and gave up.

However, as footage of the incident quickly spread online, public outrage grew. Viewers and internet users called on local authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. As the controversy escalated, Emilion Esnault, Deputy Mayor of Toulouse, issued an official statement expressing his full support for Jinnytty, who was insulted and attacked during her broadcast in Toulouse, and emphasized that "such unacceptable behavior must be eradicated."

Authorities are currently working to identify the perpetrator and investigate the case, but it remains unclear whether an arrest has been made. In France, this incident has led to increased calls for measures to protect tourists and strengthen responses to racism.

Jinnytty is a popular streamer who has traveled the world, introducing various cultures and communicating with viewers through live broadcasts.
