Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, visited Hwasun-gun, Jeonnam on the morning of the 11th as part of his 'Every Alley Listening Tour (Namdo Culture Belt Edition)' to gauge public sentiment.

At the site, Democratic Party lawmakers including Park Ji Won, Joo Cheol Hyeon, Shin Jeong Hoon, Seo Sam Seok, and Jung Chung Rae, along with thousands of supporters and local residents, filled the streets to greet Lee.

Lee walked through a street lined with small businesses for about 80 meters, meeting with residents. In an impromptu speech, he stated, "Starting from June 3, Jeonnam and Hwasun will embark on a new beginning. Are you ready?" He continued, "The people are the true owners of this country. The real Republic of Korea will begin."

He went on to say, "Today marks the anniversary of the Donghak Peasant Army's first victory against government forces in 1894. We dream of a great community where everyone is respected as if they were the sky itself. (In Gwangju and Jeonnam), even after all military, police, and security forces withdrew in May 1980, for ten days, we experienced a true community without any unjust public authority, where not a single theft or violent incident occurred, and people shared rice balls."

Lee added, "It may not be easy to create such a world, but a country solely for the people, a country where the people are the nation, is what we have called the Republic of Korea. We won on December 3, we are still winning now, and we must overcome anti-historical and anti-republican forces to build a true Republic of Korea where the people are the owners."

He also appealed, "With overwhelming votes and choices, the people must create your own world and country."

The local lawmakers who joined the event also took to the podium one after another to ask for support for Lee.

Assemblyman Shin Jeong Hoon said, "We must create a country where justice, freedom, and truth can breathe, a country where the people are the owners. Let the citizens of Hwasun and Naju build it together."

Assemblyman Park Ji Won stated, "I believe candidate Lee Jae Myung is like the reincarnation of former President Kim Dae Jung. Think of how much slander DJ endured, yet he became the greatest president in history."

He continued, "Lee Jae Myung is following in Kim Dae Jung's footsteps. I believe he will become the most successful president. Please vote for him."

Meanwhile, starting in Hwasun, Jeonnam at 9:45 a.m., Lee wrapped up all the schedules of his 'Every Alley Listening Tour,' which he had conducted across the country, by touring Gangjin-eup from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Haenam-eup in Haenam-gun at 1:30 p.m., and Dokcheon Nakji Street in Yeongam-gun at 2:40 p.m.

Lee plans to begin his full-fledged election campaign starting from the official campaign period on May 12.
