All First-Round Interviewees to Receive 1 Million Won

Fintech company Toss is conducting a large-scale recruitment of more than 1,000 employees by May 11 to keep pace with rapid growth in the commerce and advertising sectors. In particular, the company has introduced an unprecedented condition: every applicant who participates in the first-round job interview will receive a cash reward of 1 million won.

Viva Republica, which operates Toss, is accepting applications for key technical positions, including server developers and machine learning (ML) engineers, until May 11. The policy of providing 1 million won simply for participating in the interview is an unprecedented move, demonstrating the company's intention to respect the applicants' actual time and effort. Previously, in 2022, the company provided the same amount to a limited number of applicants selected by lottery as a "growth support fund," but this is the first time that all interviewees will receive the payment.


This recruitment drive is part of Toss's strategic expansion to strengthen its "commerce advertising" platform, which has recently become a key focus. The company is currently concentrating on expanding its commerce and advertising businesses. In the advertising sector, Toss has launched a variety of products since introducing display ads in September 2022, including video ads, banners, live shopping, and push notifications.

Currently, the company is focusing on enhancing advertising performance measurement and targeting sophistication, and is recruiting talent for various positions such as Technical Account Manager, Ads ML Engineer, and Ads Sales Specialist.


The commerce division is also strengthening user inflow following a recent restructuring of the app. "Tossshopping" is now located at the center bottom of the home screen, and its monthly active users (MAU) have surpassed 4 million. The number of partner merchants stands at approximately 37,000, representing an increase of about 7% compared to the beginning of this year. According to market research firm Open Survey, the re-use rate of Tossshopping within the past month is 57.6%, significantly higher than the industry average of 30-40%.


This growth has been directly reflected in the company's performance. In 2024, Toss recorded an operating profit of 90.7 billion won and a net profit of 21.3 billion won, achieving its first annual surplus since its founding. The company is currently preparing for an IPO on the US stock market.


Regarding this recruitment, the company stated, "This may be the last large-scale expansion for Toss," and added, "Now is the time to participate in the remaining growth opportunities."
