Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on May 10 that, in recognition of May as the month for filing and paying individual local income tax, it will operate a tax filing service desk from May 19 to 23 on the third floor of the Cultural Happiness Building at the county office, in the local tax computer room.

The filing requirement applies to taxpayers who generated income during 2024, and both comprehensive income tax and individual local income tax must be filed and paid together during May. The service desk will primarily assist those who received the National Tax Service's 'Modu-Chaeum' notification, focusing on taxpayers such as seniors and individuals with disabilities who may have difficulty filing electronically. Taxpayers with simple filings will be guided to prepare and submit their returns independently.

Individual local income taxpayers can file and pay without visiting the service desk, using a PC (Hometax) or mobile device (Sontax). After filing comprehensive income tax through the National Tax Service's Hometax system, the local tax (Wetax) is automatically linked, making it easy to file individual local income tax.

This year, to ease the tax burden for victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident and for residents of Damyang County in areas declared as special disaster zones, the deadline for paying individual local income tax has been extended by three months. As a result, taxpayers can file by June 2 and pay by September 1 without any separate application.

A county official stated, "We will do our best to minimize inconvenience and confusion for taxpayers during the individual local income tax filing and payment period," and urged, "Please file and pay in advance to avoid missing the filing deadline."
