On May 9, in celebration of the 23rd Food Safety Day (May 14), Gwangju City held a 'Food Safety Day Campaign' at the plaza around Gwangju Songjeong Station.

The campaign was attended by Gwangju City, the five district offices, the Gwangju Regional Office of Food and Drug Safety, and the Gwangsan-gu branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, among other related organizations. They promoted the importance of food safety and proper dietary habits to visitors and citizens in Gwangju.

The participating organizations provided a variety of information, including: the three key hygiene rules to prevent food poisoning in summer, the practice of reducing sodium intake, the promotion of healthy and waste-free food culture, and the restaurant hygiene rating system. In particular, in line with the '2025 Visit Gwangju Year,' they actively encouraged citizen participation to enhance the hygienic and clean image of 'Gwangju, the City of Taste.'

Bae Kangsook, head of the Health and Hygiene Division, stated, "This campaign was organized to help citizens practice hygiene rules in their daily lives and enjoy a healthy summer," and added, "We will continue to provide education and publicity on food safety to create a safe dietary environment."
