Baekseok University Signs Industry-Academia Cooperation Agreement with Value Manila Hotel in the Philippines

On May 9, Baekseok University signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement with Value Manila Hotel in the Philippines to foster hoteliers.

This agreement is part of the "2025 Overseas Work Experience Support Project (WELL)" organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. Baekseok University was selected for this project for the second consecutive year, following last year.

The WELL program is a government-supported initiative designed to help young people grow into globally competitive talent by providing overseas, field-oriented job experience and global communication skills.

The signing ceremony was attended by John Patrick Chan, CEO of Value Manila Hotel, and Jang Hyunjong, Director of Global Talent Development at Baekseok University, among others.

Under the agreement, students from the Department of Hotel and Tourism at Baekseok University will be assigned to various departments at Value Manila Hotel, including front office operations, room management, customer service, and banquet services. They will receive hands-on training by directly participating in the overall operation of the local hotel.

Jang Hyunjong stated, "This agreement goes beyond a simple overseas internship and will greatly help students grow into talent equipped with both practical job skills and a global mindset. We will continue to expand cooperation with various global sites in the future."

Meanwhile, in addition to Value Manila Hotel, Baekseok University plans to send students to three countries in total through the WELL program: New Zealand (early childhood special education, dental hygiene, business administration), Japan (IT), and the Philippines.
