Shinan County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 9 that it had achieved the distinction of being selected as the top institution nationwide in the prompt execution evaluation, which is being actively promoted by the central government to revitalize the local economy.

The county was selected as the top institution in the “2025 First Quarter Local Fiscal Prompt Execution Evaluation” organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing a special grant of 100 million won. It was also chosen as the grand prize winner in Jeollanam-do’s own evaluation, receiving an additional 30 million won in project funds.

In addition, in 2024, the county was selected as the top institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s evaluation, securing 35 million won, and has continued to implement prompt budget execution to strengthen the vitality of the local economy.

Despite the challenging conditions of being an island region, the county has reviewed preliminary administrative procedures such as land compensation and permits since 2024, allocated the budget accordingly, and laid the groundwork for swift contracting and commencement of large-scale projects.

Furthermore, the county formed a Prompt Execution Task Force led by the Deputy Governor, significantly increasing the execution rate through regular monitoring of execution performance and special management of large-scale and underperforming projects.

Kim Daein, Acting Governor of Shinan County, stated, “This achievement is the result of all departments working together to stabilize residents’ livelihoods and revitalize the stagnant local economy in these difficult economic times.” He added, “We will continue to do our utmost to operate finances in a way that truly helps the local economy and benefits our residents.”
