Gwangsan District in Gwangju Launches '1313 Neighbor Care' Village Newspaper

Stories of Care Woven by Residents, Published Every Two Months
Featuring Interviews and Activity Journals, Distributed Locally

Gwangsan District in Gwangju has launched the village newspaper '1313 Neighbor Care,' created together with local residents.

According to Gwangsan District on May 9, this newspaper, which shares stories of neighbor care activities aimed at building a community without isolation, is not just a simple newsletter. Instead, it aspires to be a participatory platform where residents themselves take the lead in driving change.

Gwangsan District in Gwangju published the first issue of the village newspaper featuring the '1313 Neighbor Care' activities.

Through this newspaper, Gwangsan District sought to share the purpose and process of the '1313 Neighbor Care' project with citizens and to encourage greater resident participation. The village newspaper is distributed to each neighborhood administrative welfare center and local welfare institutions, making it easily accessible to everyone.

The newspaper features stories about becoming close friends with neighbors, vivid interviews with participating residents, best activity journals, and other small but heartwarming moments from neighbor care activities. It is published every two months.

Park Byungkyu, the head of the district, said, "We have included the small-scale care activities happening within the village," and added, "We will continue with the second and third issues so that more residents can participate in neighbor care and help spread a warm community."

'1313 Neighbor Care' is a community care project aimed at alleviating social isolation, in which residents become neighborhood guardians, look after various parts of the village, and connect neighbors with one another.
